Calgary Board of Education is dedicated to student success and creating rich and dynamic learning experiences. For their students, they create purpose, inspire passion, encourage growth and connect learning to social awareness. The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is the largest public school district in Western Canada, with more than 235 schools, serving over 120,000 students. All schools in the province of Alberta must follow this curriculum.  Calgary Board of Education schools have a full range of academic classes including different levels of English as a Second Language programming, interesting complementary classes (options), and extra-curricular activities to suit most interests! Depending on the level of English proficiency, international students can access the same regular academic courses (Math, Sciences, Social Studies, and English) as Canadian students.

Co-curricular activities

A wide variety of complementary courses are available, all students take a range of options to ensure a well-rounded education. An international student coordinator works with students to provide a customized timetable based on their goals, needs and interests. Some examples are Fine Arts (such as Choir, Jazz Band, Music, Dance, Art, Drama, etc.), Career and Technology Studies (such as Cosmetology, Welding, Pre-Engineering, Graphic Design, Construction, Auto body, Mechanics, etc.), and Languages (such as French and Spanish). There are too many to name them all!
This is a great way to meet Canadian friends.

Sports that are available at most CBE High Schools: Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Field Hockey, Football, Outdoor clubs, Rugby, Soccer, Swimming (limited), Theatre, Track and Field, Volleyball
